A fifth team in 4 years for Max Domi?!

Another move?!

At the trade deadline, the Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Max Domi from the Columbus Blue Jackets in a complicated three-way trade that also involved the Florida Panthers.

Everyone assumed it would be the much-needed change of scenery for Domi, who’s been struggling in Columbus ever since he landed there in the second trade of his career.

While he might have imagined fitting in Raleigh and convincing the Canes to offer him a contract extension as he is set to be a free agent this summer, according to Ian Kennedy of the Hockey News, he has not impressed them so far. He puts Domi in his list of minus returns of this year’s trade deadline ahead of Thursday’s action.

“No one questions Max Domi’s skill, but the enigmatic forward can’t seem to find a fit, and it doesn’t look like Carolina is that answer. He had 4 assists through 11 games with the Hurricanes, remaining on pace for his lowest offensive output in a complete season.”

This could mean that Domi will end up on the free-agent market and will need to sign with another team, which means he could move to his fifth club in four years.

Domi was selected in the first round, 12th overall of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes, where he spent three seasons before he was shipped out to Montreal.

The Canadiens weren’t the right fit, the Blue Jackets either… and now the same story goes for the Hurricanes. Where does he fit? Where does he go next?
