A second trade offer for Tkachuk reportedly turned down by the Flames
Two clubs were told the return was not good enough! What is it going to take?

There is so much happening with Matthew Tkachuk though nothing has really happened … yet.
The Flames filed for club-elected salary arbitration with the restricted free agent on Monday, giving them more time to figure out what to do. In the meantime, trade offers are reportedly coming in. On Tuesday, St. Louis insider Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic revealed there was a significant offer made to the Flames for Tkachuk by the Blues, “a package of Jordan Kyrou, Torey Krug, and a first-round draft pick”, but Calgary refused.
It seems like they have refused another deal. According to Steve Macfarlane, who is on the Flames’ beat, “it was rumoured the Devils made a pitch at the draft that the Flames turned down.” He believes the Devils could still remain in the mix for a trade to land Tkachuk’s services.
Tkachuk is coming off a three-year, $21-million deal with the Flames and is currently a restricted free agent. On Sunday, he was not one of the 23 players who elected arbitration. He took part in all 82 games for the Calgary Flames last season, scoring 42 goals and registering 104 points. He also registered 10 points in 12 games during the Stanley Cup playoffs, where the Flames were eliminated in the second round by the Edmonton Oilers.
On Wednesday, Tkachuk informed the Flames that he won’t be re-signing with the club. Jeremy Rutherford of the Athletic also reported that the forward “has supplied them with a list of teams with whom he would agree to a long-term contract," and it is believed that the list includes "St. Louis, Vegas, Florida, Nashville and Dallas [...] New Jersey and the New York Rangers are also among the other teams that have expressed interest in the past.”
We get why a lot of contenders are looking at acquiring him. However, we have no clue what kind of return Flames GM Brad Treliving might have in mind for the star player. We bet the GM is still struggling with losing Johnny Gaudreau for nothing at the free agency opening and wants to make sure he gets a huge return for Tkachuk.
Which team makes it happen then?
