Any takers?
UPDATE: This is an update to our earlier published article by Hockey Feed staff writer Jonathan Larrivee in which former Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray was incorrectly identified.
It has been an extremely busy last few days in the National Hockey League with teams making significant cuts to their rosters as they prepare for the 2025-26 NHL regular season which is now right around the corner. On Sunday we saw a whopping 23 players hit the waiver wire as teams looked to move players down to the American Hockey League, and on Monday we have nearly as many once again.
We now have 22 players, including two goaltenders, hitting the waiver wire with all 23 players who were waived on Sunday clearing the waiver process.
As I mentioned on Sunday, it is unlikely that we will see any of the players waived today claimed by another team, if only due to the fact that teams are trying to cut their rosters down to be NHL compliant before the regular season. That being said there are exceptions each and every year, and it could very well be that one of the names on today's list will be among those.
Here is a look at the full list of names:
Brind'amour, Skyler
Seeley, Ronan
Aube-Kubel, Nicolas
Gleason, Benjamin
Jones, Ben
Kiersted, Matt
Gravel, Kevin
Lucchini, Jacob
Murray, Matt
Mutter, Navrin
Oesterle, Jordan
Blidh, Anton
Dowling, Justin
Fix-Wolansky, Trey
Pouliot, Derrick
Grans, Helge
Labate, Joseph
Maceachern, Mackenzie
Patera, Jiri
Schuldt, Jimmy
Di Giuseppe, Phillip
Shaw, Mason
It is worth noting that there is a lot more NHL experience among the players waived on Monday than there was on Sunday, with established NHL veterans like Derrick Pouliot, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, and even veteran netminder Matt Murray (Not THAT Matt Murray though) all available for a waiver claim today.
Although Aube-Kubel only appeared in a total of 22 NHL games last season he does have 304 games of NHL experience under his belt and could be a valuable depth addition for a team that suffers an injury at the forward position leading up to the regular season.
Pouliot is in a similar position, albeit on the blue line. The 31 year old defenseman has spent the last two seasons in the American Hockey League but he's coming off a solid campaign with the Texas Stars, one that saw him record 7 goals and 46 assists for 53 points in just 70 AHL games last season.
