Oh man this is tough. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Oxford, Michigan.

In case you missed the news yesterday, a 15 year old high school student opened fire at his Oxford, Michigan high school killing three students and wounding eight other people, including a teacher.

From a CBC report on the shooting:

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said late Tuesday that investigators were still trying to determine a motive for the shooting at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, a community of about 22,000 people roughly 48 kilometres north of Detroit.

The suspect's father bought the 9mm Sig Sauer used in the shooting on Friday, Bouchard said, adding that he did not know why the man bought the gun. Bouchard said the suspect had practised shooting with the gun and posted pictures of it and the target.

Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris just happens to be a native of Oxford and when he was asked about his thoughts on the news earlier today, the youngster clearly got emotional.

Check it out:

Man, you can't help but feel for this kid and even more so for the entire community of Oxford. I can't imagine what the affected families are going through right now.

As for Norris, he'll have to dig deep tonight and turn his focus to hockey as his team takes on the visiting Vancouver Canucks at 7pm ET.

Now, I'm not going to sit here and lecture an entire country on their gun laws but... when will this end? There's exactly one country on the planet where this sort of thing happens on the regular and yet there's never any change made. I'm all for freedom and personal responsibility, but with when you've proven that the system doesn't work when is it time to try something new? My heart aches for the young men and women who not only died as a result of this senseless violence, but the hundreds (thousands!?) of people in this community who will forever be traumatized by this killing spree. And the sad reality is that Oxford, Michigan is now just one of dozens of communities across the country that are left feeling this way. Enough is enough.
