Angela Price facing backlash over comments regarding the Ottawa protest.
Another Canadiens' spouse under fire on social media.
There have been ongoing protest in the Canadian capital of Ottawa, Ontario for the last several weeks now, protests that have garnered significant international attention. It seems everyone has an opinion to share on what is going on over there and therefore it should probably come as no surprise when figures connected to the National Hockey League have opinions of their own to share.
In spite of that however some have not reacted kindly when those opinions have been shared online through social media and the latest person to come under fire for doing so is none other than Angela Price, the wife of Montreal Canadiens star goaltender Carey Price. Recently Angela commented through an Instagram story about a photo that has gone viral across the internet, one that appears to show a Canadian law enforcement official riding a horse over an elderly woman that has fallen to the ground.
Angela Price, apparently after reading conflicting reports that the elderly woman had passed away somewhere online, published the photo on her Instagram stating that she was praying for the woman's health. She also added that she was in "disbelief" over what was currently happening in Canada, with her comments on the photo captured in 3 seperate captions that she herself shared publicly.
Since posting the photograph Price has now come under fire with members of the French media in Quebec calling her out publicly, including this tweet from a journalist currently working for Le Journal de Montreal. In the tweet the journalist calls out Angela for "sharing fake news this morning regarding the convoy in Ottawa."
While some have defended Price over these statements, other fans have taken to attacking her on social media. Unfortunately this is something we have seen far too often as of late, here are just a few of the more tame examples.
This may be turning into a significant problem for the Montreal Canadiens with the family members of their players expressing discontent over how they are being treated by the team's own fans online. Just recently Julie Petry, the wife of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry, called out fans on social media for harassing her and her family over her comments she made regarding the mandates in Canada.
In fact many suspect that this played a significant role in Julie Petry and her children remaining in the United States following the All-Star break, something that may have even contributed to Jeff Petry's reported desire to be traded off the team altogether.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that Carey Price, if he is even aware of the comments being directed at his wife, isn't a big fan of this stuff either.
In highly polarized topics such as the one brought up by Angela Price there are always going to be disagreements, but I would implore anyone who wants to express their disagreement to do so in as calm and as respectful manner as possible.
