There may be a big return on the horizon for the Boston Bruins.
The Bruins were left sorely disappointed last season when 36 year old veteran centerman David Krejci decided to leave the National Hockey League in order to go back home to the Czech Republic and play hockey there in the Czech League with Olomouc HC. Krejci appeared in 51 games for that team and performed admirably recording 20 goals and 26 assists for 46 points over the season, but it would appear that he still has the itch to play in the NHL.
The latest on the David Krejci front comes to us courtesy of WEEI's Lou Merloni, who on Monday reported that Krejci had begun talks that would see him return as a member of the Boston Bruins for the upcoming NHL season.
I do wonder if the return of captain Patrice Bergeron for another season played a role in Krejci's decision to return, or if perhaps Bergeron's own decision was influenced by the fact that he may have had some knowledge of Krejci's future plans.
