Binnington and Kadri clash backstage following Game 3.

Things get a little ugly backstage.

We had by far our most eventful night of the second round Stanley Cup playoff series between the Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night, and quite frankly it could end up being one of the most important nights of these Stanley Cup playoffs for both of the teams involved.

It was a brutal game for both teams as both lost players to injury with the Avalanche losing defenseman Samuel Girard for the remainder of the season after he suffered a serious injury following a huge hit from Blues forward Ivan Barbashev, while the Blues appeared to lose their starting goaltender Jordan Binnington when he was involved in a violent collision with both Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri and Blues defenseman Calle Rosen.

Although this would seemingly give both teams a reason to be heated following Saturday's Game 3, it was Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington who struggled to contain his emotions following the game after he was injured. During a post game interview Nazem Kadri was asked about the fateful collision with Binnington and, according to Kadri, while he was responding to the question he was attacked by Binnington who threw a water bottle at him.

Now to be clear I don't believe Kadri ever felt threatened given his rather calm and cool demeanor as all of this was going on, but nonetheless it is not a good look on the part of Binnington to be throwing objects at your opponents following a loss.

You can see Kadri's reaction during the post game interview in the short clip below:

The Athletic's Peter Baugh has since confirmed with two people that it was in fact Binnington who threw the bottle at Kadri during the post game interview, and I do wonder about whether or not the NHL will now be forced to step in with some type of fine or other form of supplemental discipline as a result of this incdient.

Here is a look at the water bottle in question:

No word yet from the league on whether or not they will act on this matter.
