Brad Marchand dunks on the Sabres after Linus Ullmark's triumphant return

Marchand gonna Marchand!

Michael W.

It was a triumphant return for goaltender Linus Ullmark tonight in Buffalo!

Thanks to the uncertainly surrounding stalwart goaltender Tuukka Rask and his future in Boston, the Bruins made other arrangements, plucking Ullmark from the Buffalo Sabres with a $20 million deal during the offseason. However, his exhibition play didn't exactly calm the nerves of Bruins fans. Is tonight the first step in alleviating those doubts?

Ullmark stopped 35 of 36 shots in his return to KeyBank Center tonight, helping his team to improve to 2-1 on the young season with a 4-1 victory and handing the upstart Sabres their first defeat. For Ullmark, it was his first W as a member of the Bruins.

Prior to tonight, the 163rd overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2012 NHL Draft had appeared in 117 career games, posting a record of 50-47-13 with a 2.78 goals against average, .913 save percentage and three shutouts.

And afterwards, notorious pest Brad Marchand, who registered two assists in the victory, had a special message of thanks for the Sabres:

Of course, it was another former Sabres player who had a hand in tonight's victory, as Taylor Hall tallied a goal and an assist, along with being +3. The Bruins also got goals from Tomas Nosek, Charlie Coyle and David Pastrnak

The Bruins will return home for a Sunday matinee against the San Jose Sharks, who took down the Maple Leafs earlier tonight.
