Brad Marchand reveals what he told Artemi Panarin to set him off!

This is what prompted Panarin to throw his glove from the bench at Marchand:

Boston Bruins' Brad Marchand just knows how to get under your skin and we saw another reason why over the weekend. Back on Friday night, New York Rangers' Artemi Panarin was seen arguing with Marchand from their respective benches. The Rangers superstar eventually took his glove off, whipped it across the benches and nailed Marchand in the centre of his chest,

Everyone has been wondering what Marchand could have said to piss off Panarin the way he did, and finally on Tuesday, the Bruins' forward came clean:

"I said that no one in Russia likes him," Marchand told reporters in Boston on Tuesday. "So if that is now what is setting guys over the edge, then this is the softest league in the world."

Marchand then added: "And no one should be allowed to say anything. Because there's a lot worse things said out there than that. If that's what he's crying about, then it is what is is."

I have to admit I expected worse from Marchand... On Friday, both he and Panarin received misconduct penalties after the glove toss took place right in front of a linesman.

As for the Rangers' star forward, he explained that while he was not exactly sure what came out of Marchand, he heard Russia and that was enough to set him off.

"I didn’t really understand what he said in the moment because we had a little conversation with bad energy," Panarin later said. "Then I hear something about Russia in that moment, and then with that energy, that can’t be something good about Russia. So, that's why I lose my mind and then I did what I did."

Panarin was fined $5,000 by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for unsportsmanlike conduct as a result of the incident.

Karma came back to haunt Marchand, as he was serving a three-game suspension for slew-footing Vancouver’s Oliver Ekman-Larsson when he met with reporters on Tuesday.

We will get to see a rematch between the Rangers and Bruins on April 23. Tempers will have cooled off... we think.
