Breaking: 22-year-old forward out up to 6 months with major injury!
Major injury on Tuesday
HockeyFeed
We have a second major injury to report on Tuesday, and this one is even more serious than the first.
According to a breaking news report from Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press, the St. Louis Blues have informed him that 22-year-old forward Zach Sanford has suffered a dislocated shoulder, and as a result is now expected to miss a whopping 6 months due to that injury.
Sandord was acquired by the Blues as part of the trade that sent defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to the Washington Capitals, and while given the fact that the Capitals accomplished little despite giving up a lot for Shattenkirk, this still has to sting for general manager Doug Armstrong.
Sanford, a center, was selected by the Capitals in the 2nd round(61st overall) of the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft but only got his first shot in the NHL this past season.
He played a total of 39 regular season games split between the Capitals and Blues and over that stretch he recorded 4 goals and 4 assists for a total of 8 points.
