The Anaheim Ducks will take on their Californian rivals tonight - the San Jose Sharks - and one player will set an incredible milestone that's only been accomplished three times before in the NHL's 100-year history.
Andrew Cogliano will hit the ice for an 800th consecutive time, not missing a single game in that span. The record iron-man streak dates back to October 4th, 2007. He joins Doug Jarvis, Steve Larmer, and Garry Unger on this prestige list of iron men. Move aside, Tony Stark.
What is most impressive about this streak is the consistency it displays in the 30-year-old forward, and the trust his multiple coaches have had in him over the years. Not only has he never missed a game due to illness or injury, but he's never been a healthy scratch.
Talk about a model of consistency.
Over the course of the former 25th overall pick's career, he has scored 342 points split between the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim.
Let's hope we didn't jinx it.
