There have been rumblings that the Montreal Canadiens still have one big move up their sleeves to finish off a crazy summer that including the additions of Shea Weber, Andrew Shaw and Alexander Radulov.
We now have confirmation seemingly from two insiders regarding the possibility of defenseman Nathan Bealieu being shipped out of Montreal, although no word yet as to where he might land or what Montreal will be looking for in return.
TSN insider Bob McKenzie said he wouldn't be surprised if the deal gone this morning on TSN 690.
“I think I’ve mentioned this on the morning show last spring that I wouldn’t be surprised," said Mckenzie as per Nichols on Hockey before adding "and you’ve got to be careful what you say here – I’m not saying Bergevin is shopping him or is going to trade him; but if Beaulieu got traded, I’m not sure I’d be all that surprised."
However while McKenzie hedged his bets a little, NHL.com's Arpon Basu did not.
"Bergevin listening to offers on Beaulieu. Wow."
The Canadiens have been linked to rumors regarding both defensemen Kris Russel as well as Kevin Shattenkirk, this could very well be a precursor to either of those moves.
