At the end of the second period, Montreal Canadiens’ Nick Suzuki rushed behind the net to hit Ottawa Senators’ Tim Stützle and the collision was more than arkward. It looked like Suzuki attempted to hit Stützle knee on knee but moved to get his leg as the collision could have been way worse.
But Stützle stayed on the ice and trainers came to his help while players got into a scrum for the quesitonable hit.
Suzuki was sent to the penalty for kneeing Stützle, though the latter came right back on the ice for the power-play despite the injury.
After the Senators’ 6-3 win, Habs’ Brendan Gallagher called out Stützle for faking and always laying on the ice, getting attention and the penalty but always back for the power-play. This is how Gallagher put it in the postgame press conference:
No holding back here.
When his comments were reported to Stützle’s teammate and captain Brady Tkachuk, this is how he answered:
For those wondering: yes, there is a rivalry between the Canadiens and Senators!
