Bruins unveil line combinations for 1st road game of the season
Tonight marks only the second time this season the B's have hit the ice.
The Boston Bruins take their talents on the road tonight in the City of Brotherly Love in what is only their second game of the season.
They'll be putting their 1-0 records to the test when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers, who are 1-0-1 on the year. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman will get his second start of the year, with Linus Ullmark slated to get the start when his new team takes on his former squad in Buffalo on Friday.
For Ullmark, he's looking more comfortable in practice as he adjusts to his new surroundings, according to head coach Bruce Cassidy.
“You’re seeing a lot of good pucks in practice, so sometimes it can get tough on goalies,” Cassidy said. “You’re seeing a lot of power plays down there from [Patrice Bergeron’s] group, and they can rip it. He looks like he’s battling there.
“He’s in a good place in the locker room. I’m sure he wants the net. Disappointed he didn’t get the start. But as we said to them, it’s a competition, so when you get your chance, do what you need to do to stay in the net so we don’t take you out. That’s kind of the message to both of them.”
And according to Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault, his team will have their hands full with their guests.
“They are good to go,” said Vigneault. “I want us to play well. We’re playing against a good team. We’re going to have to play better than they do. They have one of the best lines in hockey in quite some years and they’re a team that plays very well defensively. We’re going to have to work extremely hard to generate offense. I think our whole group right now is excited about the challenge in front of us.”
