Canada's Poulin receives a ridiculously sexist award as MVP in Finnish exhibition game
Are you serious?! Who thought this was a good idea!?
HockeyFeed
The Canadian women's national team bested the Finnish women's national team in an exhibition game in Helsinki earlier today, thanks in large part to superstar Marie Philip-Poulin.
Poulin, of course, has been THE big name player for Canada in big time moments and has received her fair share of Player of the Game and tournament MVP honours. But I guarantee she's never won a Player of the Game award quite like the one she took home today.
So... what did Poulin get for her performance today? A brand new Remington hair straightener. Seriously!?!?!
Seriously...
As you can see in the video, it's actually Finland's Sanni Rantala who receives the "award", but we're told that Poulin indeed received the same thing.
I mean... who thought this would be a good idea?
"Hey!!! I know women and I know what they like! Let's give these broads something girly like a purse or some new lipstick! Hmmmmm... too sexist? Okay, let's go with a hair straightener then."
Seriously, what year is it? 1950? What does the tournament MVP get a brand new Hoover vacuum?!
