The Vancouver Canucks picked up a big win over the Washington Capitals on Sunday, but it was unfortunately a win overshadowed by some real concerns regarding two of the team's most important forwards.

The bad news began before the game even officially got underway when the Canucks made a sudden and unexpected announcement regarding Brock Boeser. In an official press release, the Canucks revealed that Boeser had been ruled out of the game for personal reasons. Boeser has of course been through a great deal during his tenure as a member of the Canucks, including the highly publicized loss of his father, and your heart goes out to the young man in whatever he is currently dealing with.

I can only hope that whatever matter has pulled Boeser away isn't too serious.

The Canucks would also lose another player during the game when forward Filip Chytil was on the receiving end of a monster hit from Capitals forward Tom Wilson.

Chytil would remain down on the ice for several moments after being on the receiving end of the hit from Wilson, with the former first round pick unable to leave the ice under his own power. Instead it would be Canucks teammates like veteran forward Evander Kane and members of the Canucks training staff that would have to help Chytil off the ice.

Chytil appeared to be in rough shape, a huge concern considering he is a player with a long history of debilitating concussions, and struggled even once he made it back to the Canucks bench, needing help just to get to the locker room.

A tough day for the Vancouver Canucks in spite of an important win over the Capitals.
