TRADE ALERT! Full details below:
The Vancouver Canucks do like their Friday trades, making another move today. The team has shipped defenseman Mark Friedman to the Nashville Predators in return for future considerations.
Many fans and pundits believe that Vancouver is making room for a bigger transaction later on ahead of the March 7 deadline.
In recent weeks, the Canucks have been linked to New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson, who is reportedly available though GM Lou Lamoriello does not like word getting out about it.
Dobson is currently on long-term injured reserve after sustaining a lower-body injury on Jan. 4., but there is a sense he could return following the break for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off.
Friedman has appeared in five NHL games this season and recorded no scoring, 10 penalty minutes, and a minus-four. He played 23 games for the team last year, finishing with one assist.
This is the third transaction Vancouver has made in the past week, as they keep busy moving pieces around a month prior to the trade deadline. Many believe more moves are coming.
