The Vancouver Canucks fan base got some good news on Sunday.

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin met with members of the media on Sunday to discuss the recent signing of veteran forward David Kampf, and it would be during that media availability that Allvin would comment on the status of another Canucks forward.

Filip Chytil has largely been out of the picture since mid-October when he suffered a serious injury after being on the receiving end of a huge hit from Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, but on Sunday Allvin had some positive news to share about the injured forward. While it is too early to begin talking about a return to the lineup for Chytil, Allvin did reveal that the player is currently in Vancouver and has been working on the ice as he continues to recover from that hit.

"He's been in Vancouver the whole time," revealed Allvin. "He's actually skating and he's feeling better."

That is great news for the Canucks who gave up a great deal to acquire Chytil, who they acquired as part of the trade that sent former Canucks star forward J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers, especially when you consider that Chytil has a long history of head injuries that left many wondering if he would in fact return to the ice.

Unfortunately since that trade Chytil has only been healthy enough to appear in a grand total of 21 games, scoring 5 goals and adding 4 assists for a total of 9 points. The expectations were much higher when he was acquired and hopefully he can continue to trend towards a return and deliver what the Canucks were hoping he would when they acquired him from the Rangers.
