Concern over the Oilers captain after he leaves the ice in the middle of practice.
The Edmonton Oilers have been given a bit of a scare on Monday morning, with Oilers captain Connor McDavid making an early exit from the team's morning skate.
According to a report from Oilers reporter Ryan Rishaug, the Oilers star forward left the ice in the middle of practice on Monday and immediately began consulting with the team's training staff. According to Rishaug there were no visible signs of an injury to McDavid, although that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Losing McDavid would be an unmitigated disaster for the Oilers who are already without star forward Leon Draisaitl who made comments over the weekend that suggest he may be out longer than initially expected.
McDavid is in the middle of another incredible season with a ridiculous 38 goals and 78 assists for a total of 116 points in only 71 games thus far, and it would be a shame to see that momentum derailed. Even more importantly for the Oilers however is the fact that they are in a tight playoff race, currently holding the last seed from the Pacific Division, and losing McDavid could completely derail their chances of securing their spot in the playoffs.
That being said we won't know if there even is an injury here until we hear more from Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch following today's morning skate.
