Controversial call early in Game 1 puts the Avs up ahead
What!?!?! How is that allowed!?
HockeyFeed
The Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers have started off the Western Conference Final with an absolute barn burner of a first period!
The Avs appeared to take a 3-2 lead late in the frame until Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft challenged the play for offside. To me, the play is clearly offside and should be called back. Avs forward Valeri Nichushkin is still in the Oilers' zone when Makar enters with full possession of the puck.
Or... does he?
Judge for yourself:
WHAT!?!?
How is that onside? Because Makar isn't actually touching the puck when Nichushkin exits the zone? Nonsense... Makar has full possession the entire time. Garbage call.
