Controversy in Game 3 after blown call leads to 2 goals.
The Dallas Stars have reason to be angry after a blown call in Game 3 has a major impact on the game.
The Dallas Stars already weren't very happy with the officiating in the Western Conference Final after star forward Roope Hintz was injured on a slash from Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse in Game 2, a slash that the Stars felt should have been a 5 minute major, and unfortunately I believe they will feel hard done by again in Game 3.
In the first period of Game 3 the officials on the ice, that is National Hockey League referees Kelly Sutherland and Eric Furlatt as well as linesmen Matt MacPherson and Jonny Murray, would miss a rather blatant call that would rob the Stars of an automatic 2 minute powerplay. That call was a delay of game, one that should have been awarded to Oilers defenseman Brett Kulak.
Kulak was deep in the Oilers zone when he clearly flipped the puck out of play and over the glass, but somehow all 4 officials on the ice would miss the call.
Now that in and of itself wouldn't have been the end of the world, but what will make this so difficult to swallow for the Stars and their fans is the fact that the Oilers would respond by scoring two quick goals, both of which came during the time that the Stars should have been on the power play.
Both goals were just 36 seconds apart with the first scored by Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard.
And the second was scored by Oilers captain Connor McDavid just 36 seconds later.
A very tough break for the Stars.
