The Arizona Coyotes have taken advantage of the Calgary Flames.

According to a report from National Hockey League insider Chris Johnston, the Flames have lost 24 year old defenseman Juuso Valimaki on waivers. Valimaki was submitted to waivers by the Flames on Saturday during what was a big day of waivers in the NHL, and it seems that the Coyotes felt that there was enough there to submit a claim for Valimaki's services.

Valimaki spent most of last season playing for the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League, appearing in 35 games and registering 2 goals and 16 assists for a total of 18 points on the season.

This may be something of a double edged sword for Valimaki who may get more opportunity to play in Arizona, but will now have to join one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the league in order to do so.
