Craig Berube shares official update on Matthew Knies for Game 7.

An official update on injured Matthew Knies from the head coach of the Maple Leafs.

In spite of the fact that they claimed victory in Game 6 of their second round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Florida Panthers, there were many fans of the Maple Leafs who left Game 6 with a feeling of trepidation.

That stemmed from the fact that Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies did not appear to be doing too well in the latter stages of the game due to what appeared to be an injury. Knies suffered the injury when attempting a hit on Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola that went wrong.

Knies did play after the hit but was extremely limited to say the least, playing in a playoff low of just 13 minutes in Game 6 and appearing to be in agony every time he stopped to take a breather on the Maple Leafs' bench.

Thankfully for the Maple Leafs there were some good signs regarding Knies on Sunday morning during his team's morning skate, and now we also have official word from Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube. Berube spoke to the media ahead of Game 7 on Sunday and confirmed that Knies would be in for Game 7 and furthermore that he intended to slot Knies into his normal role in the lineup.

"He’s good to go," said Berube confirming Knies will dress for Game 7. "I anticipate using him (as he normally would)."

Unfortunately it wasn't all good news on Sunday for the Maple Leafs with the reality of the injury to goaltender Anthony Stolarz still not looking very good, with Stolarz again unable to return to the ice on Sunday. That to me is a sign that Stolarz is still a very long ways away from any possibility of a return to action.
