Craig Berube stuns with last-minute Leafs’ lineup changes for Game 5!
New lines for this crucial game in Toronto. Full details below:
Earlier on Wednesday at the morning’s skate, it looked like Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube would be shaking up his roster ahead of Game 5 against the Florida Panthers in the second round.
On Tuesday at practice, it seemed like Berube was trying something out of the Panthers playbook with Nick Robertson, David Kampf and Ryan Reaves working as a unit on an extra line. For Game 4 in Miami, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice switched out his entire fourth line and it was a great decision for the team that tied the series at 2 apiece.
On Wednesday morning, Kampf was not on the ice for the team’s optional skate on Wednesday, raising the question of whether he could enter the lineup for Game 5.
After the skate, Berube explained that the team has “game-time decisions” to make, and we finally found out during warmups what the Maple Leafs’ lineup is for Game 5 against the Panthers. Both Robertson and Kampf are taking warmups in Toronto, per Elliotte Friedman, with Pontus Holmberg and Calle Jarnkrok not out there.
Järnkrok and Holmberg healthy scratched for the first time in these playoffs.
Now for Game 5, this is what the lineup is projected to look like:
Knies-Matthews-Marner
Pacioretty-Tavares-Nylander
McMann-Domi-Robertson
Laughton-Kampf-Lorentz
Rielly-Carlo
McCabe-Tanev
Benoit-OEL
Woll (starter)
