Detroit Red Wings get bad news on the injury front

One young blueliner won't be available for the team on Wednesday.

The Detroit Red Wings were able to gain a split in their weekend matchups against the struggling Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks, dropping the first but earning a decisive win in the latter.

They currently sit at 3-2-1 on the young season so far, and have been buoyed by strong offensive performances from Tyler Bertuzzi, as well as the emergence of Lucas Raymond and blue liner Moritz Seider.

However, they'll be without one young piece of the team tomorrow when they pay a visit to Alexander Ovechkin, former teammate Anthony Mantha and the Washington Capitals. According to head coach Jeff Blashill, defenseman Gustav Lindstrom likely won't be available:

Should Lindstrom not be able to play, it will likely open the door for the return of Filip Hronek to the lineup, who has been a healthy scratch the past two games.

Lindstrom has averaged 16:56 TOI in six games played this season, along with two assists and an even plus/minus rating.
