Everyone is talking about the incident that took place on Thursday night in Boston in which captain Brad Marchand tripped Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren, injuring him and possibly taling him out of action for a while.

Of course, that includes Don Cherry, who announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he will centre his upcoming podcast on the trip and if Marchand should be suspended for his actions.

“Should Marchand get a suspension? If so, how many games? Why didn’t the Leafs do something about it last night? I’ll talk about it on my next Don Cherry’s Grapevine Podcast.”

On Thursday, Liljegren left the game after Marchand hit him into the boards with what’s known as a “can opener” in the final minute of the first period and wasn’t penalized for the incident.

Fans quickly started to criticize Marchand and demand a suspension for the notorious pest, however, some pundits, including TNT host and podcaster Paul Bissonnette and reporter Matt Larkin of Daily Face-Off do not believe Marchand should be banned.

Where does Cherry stand? What do YOU think?

There was a significant injury on the play and the Maple Leafs are losing a guy that is in the Leafs’ top four on the back end. He had collected one assist while averaging 19:23 of ice time over nine games entering Thursday. And Marchand is the most suspended player in NHL history, banned eight different times, for everything from low-bridge hits to illegal checks to the head to slew-footing, and fined nine other times.

Can’t wait to hear what Grapes has to say…
