It was a tough day to be a New York Rangers fan on Sunday with some pretty bad news coming out regarding the status of forward Filip Chytil.

The Rangers announced in a statement that Chytil had suffered a major setback in his recovery from an upper body injury, one so severe that Chytil has been shut down for what remains of the 2023-24 National Hockey League season.

While the news will of course come as a major letdown for fans of the team, there is likely no one going through it more right now than Chytil himself who worked so diligently to try and make his return following the injury. In spite of the intense struggles, both physical and mental, that Chytil must be going through at this time, when he spoke about the news on Sunday it was nothing but positive vibes from the Rangers forward.

Chytil stressed that he was grateful for the love and support of the fans, and vowed to come back better than ever when healthy. Here is his message, unedited and in full:

It has been the hardest 3 months of my life and has not been easy for my family, closest people and of course for whole NY Rangers organization. But we gotta stay positive even in these tough moments and just think What is ahead of us! Thanks to you all for nice messages! I’ll come back stronger than ever!
