On Friday, buzz started going when Sportsnet’s Eric Francis reported that Calgary Flames goalie Daniel Vladar broke his stick on the post and briefly leaving the practice.

Francis also added to his tweet reporting the incident : “These Flames goalies are leading the league in one stat - broken lumber. Frustration extremely evident in Calgary these days, & last night’s game, followed by Walsh’s tweet, escalated things.”

Vladar saw the tweet later on Friday and responded to the reporter, explaining what had happened. It had nothing to do with him being frustrated, he claims.

“Forgot to mention I Came back in 5 sec later bcs I forgot to bring 2nd one. My bad. Goalies break their sticks because we care…by the way guys love it and don’t worry I’ll put money on a board for it” Vladar posted with a wink face.

Francis, who didn’t know Vladar went to retrieve a new stick, was building the report from head coach Darryl Sutter’s press conference following a humiliating 5-2 loss at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings last night. Sutter blamed his team’s recent struggles on goaltending and lack of leadership. He was quickly called out by fans and forward Jonathan Huberdeau’s agent Allan Walsh, who took a shot at the bench boss on Twitter.

We did report what Francis was saying about practice and Vladar leaving, but don’t shoot the messenger - as we know some of you love to do.

We just love Vladar’s way of dealing with it.
