Flyers’ GM Fletcher deflects question on head coach Vigneault prompting doubt on his future in Philly…
Another firing in the NHL?
HockeyFeed
The Montreal Canadiens were busy with a massive clean out over the weekend, but we are now wondering if another round of firing could take place somewhere else in the NHL. Especially with how the Philadelphia Flyers’ press conference went down on Tuesday.
As general manager Chuck Fletcher met with media media while the Flyers are stuck in a six-game losing streak.
Over the summer, Fletcher reshaped his roster, turning over 50% of the blue line, 50% of the goaltending tandem, and added five forwards to the roster.
No results yet… This prompted head coach Alain Vigneault to land of the hottest of hot seats, with Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman even wondering out loud what everyone was thinking: will AV get fired?
On Tuesday during Fletcher’s press conference, the GM intentionally deflecting a question on his head coach, which just made the chatter get even louder…
The Flyers show a record of 8-8-4 through 20 games, and clearly something needs to happen to get the team back on track. Does that mean getting rid of AV? We can’t say cause Fletcher won’t even talk about him!
However, Fletcher is not one who is quick to pull a trigger on a coach. He might have talked to AV and let him know he is on notice about his job… but we cannot say - maybe like in his conference, nothing was said and AV will get the boot next…
