Free beer for Sabres’ fans - under one condition tonight!

Will this get the crowd in Buffalo more invested?

While the Buffalo Sabres have put up a perfect 3-0 record this season with the hopes of keeping it alive tonight as they face the Boston Bruins at home, the team is also hoping to get more fans in its building.

The attendance numbers have been incredibly low in Buffalo since the start of the season as it has been reported that nearly 10,000 season-ticket holders have dropped out, which will cost the Pegula owners tens of millions of dollars.

Now, we don’t really care about the Pegulas, but the Sabres surely deserve the support with this amazing start to the season. Last week, the Sabres’ game against the visiting Ottawa Senators saw only 7872 fans in attendance, which was less than the previous contest at home…

This prompted John Buccigross of ESPN to take things up a notch and promise to buy a beer for each Sabres’ fan if the KeyBank Centre is sold out tonight.

“Fill the barn Friday night for Me and Cally on ESPN+. If it’s a sellout I’ll buy everybody a beer! Bourbon for me.”

When you look at the answers Buccigross for from fans on social media, most of them refuse to go because of the ownership, upset that the Pegulas have been making terrible calls and decisions since taking over.

However, free beer could persuade a lot of folks to get a full crowd for a potential win to keep the perfect record alive in 2021-22.
