The Detroit Red Wings are hoping to bounce back from their 6-2 setback on Tuesday night at the hands of the New Jersey Devils when they pay a visit to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. But unfortunately, they're going to be even more shorthanded than they were earlier in the week.
The Red Wings are already without the services of Tyler Bertuzzi (broken hand) and Jakub Vrana (currently in the NHLPA Player Assistance Program). And now, they're without 6'3 forward Oskar Sundqvist, who suffered an upper body injury. In his place, it will be forward Matt Luff who has been recalled from the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.
Luff, who has played with the Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings, currently has seven points (three goals and four assists) in five games played with the Griffins so far this season. In 87 career NHL games, he's scored 13 goals with 10 assists.
The Red Wings will have to contend with the return of star forward Brad Marchand, will will be making his season debut for the Bruins after recovering from offseason surgery.
Here are tonight's anticipated line combinations:
Dominik Kubalik–Dylan Larkin–David Perron
Joe Veleno–Andrew Copp–Lucas Raymond
Elder Soderblom–Michael Rasmussen–Adam Erne
Filip Zadina–Pius Sutter–Matt Luff
Ben Chiarot–Mortiz Seider
Olli Maatta–Filip Hronek
Robert Hagg–Gustav Lindstrom
Ville Husso will be getting the nod in net. Game time is set for 7:00 PM EST.
