While no one is expecting for superstar Patrick Kane to be traded ahead of the 2022-23 NHL season, there is a sense that the Chicago Blackhawks’ forward will be moved, perhaps to a contender, ahead of the trade deadline in early March.

Many pundits and former players, notably Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney of the Spittin Chiclets, have made their predictions on where Kane is going to land, however on Wednesday, it was insider Frank Seravalli’s turn to reveal where he believes the star forward will be traded ahead of the deadline.

In his latest 32 Bold Predictions for the upcoming season, Seravalli states that Kane will be a member of the New York Rangers to reunite with Artemi Panarin and lead the Blue Shirts in the postseason.

"It’s Showtime on Broadway. Patrick Kane will be traded to the New York Rangers and sign a long-term extension. He’ll be reunited with Artemi Panarin to chase a fourth career Stanley Cup.”

Fans quickly reacted to Seravalli’s prediction with one in particular arguing that the Rangers don’t have the cap space to absorb Kane’s contract. However, the insider explained:

“Why not? They have $3.5 million coming off the books in dead cap space alone and only $65 million committed next year on $83.5 million cap.”

We all feel that Kane’s $10.5-million salary-cap hit will be difficult to move unless the Blackhawks retain half. Who knows if an interested party will need to get a third team involved to spread the remaining cap hit around?

Kane has also been linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers and his hometown Buffalo Sabres, though, per ESPN NHL insider Kevin Weekes, Kane has informed Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson that he will NOT accept a trade to the Leafs.

Kane controls his fate for the coming season if he decides he wants to move on. But Seravalli believes he will want to join Panarin and the Rangers.
