Earlier today Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel donated $40,000 to Best Buddies International, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He announced the donation after inviting a group of more than 50 Best Buddies participants from the organization’s Nevada chapter to watch the Golden Knights practice and take part in trick-or-treating with Eichel and his teammates.

“I have worked with Best Buddies in my home state of Massachusetts and in Buffalo, and it was important to me to make this connection here in my new home of Vegas,” Eichel said to NHL.com. “I am fortunate to be able to make this donation but most of all look forward to continuing this relationship and building upon the friendships my teammates and I made today.”

Eichel and the boys even handed out some Halloween candy!

Kudos to Eichel for not only stepping up and giving his hard earned money to a great cause, but for also donating his time to the cause. We've seen athletes dole out cash time and time again, but to these guys money doesn't mean much. As depressing as it may sound to hear that $40,000 doesn't mean much to a guy like Eichel, it's true. Time is a much more valuable resource to a guy like Eichel than money, so the fact that he not only offered up his money but also his time says so much more to me.
