Jack Eichel trade talks heating up on Saturday.

Will Eichel finally be traded?

In spite of the fact that we have almost reached the month of November and find ourselves well into the National Hockey League regular season, the Buffalo Sabres and star forward Jack Eichel appear no closer to a resolution.

It now seems a forgone conclusion that a trade is the only way this problem will be solved, but thus far one has failed to materialize for the injured centerman. Earlier in the week we heard that the Sabres and the Las Vegas Golden Knights were on the cusp of pulling off a deal for Eichel, but it would now appear as though those talks have largely fallen apart.

"I got a call on Friday afternoon saying the talks between the Sabres and the Golden Knights had cooled," said NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

The talks between the Sabres and the Golden Knights may very well have died down, or at least quieted down considerably, but that doesn't mean that the Sabres aren't working hard in an attempt to get a deal done. On Saturday NHL insider Darren Dreger revealed that talks have once again picked up, although he did not disclose which team, or teams, the Sabres were currently having those talks with.

"The roller coaster that is the the Jack Eichel saga continues to twist and turn. Trade talks heated up and cooled this week. Seems like talks have reheated today. Stay tuned," wrote Dreger on Saturday.

It still remains a mystery where Eichel will end up when all the dust has finally settled, but if recent reports are any indication it would appear as though there is now some real urgency to get a deal done here.

Another interesting little wrinkle to add to this story, although admittedly it may be entirely unrelated, is the sudden and mysterious absence of Anaheim Ducks forward Jacob Silfverberg from the Anaheim Ducks roster. Los Angeles Kings insider John Hoven was the first to report the news on Saturday and he has since gone on to speculate that this could potentially be related to a trade involving Eichel and the aforementioned Ducks.

It sounds like Eichel could be on the move relatively soon, hopefully putting an end to a saga that has now gone on for entirely too long.
