The Calgary Flames did not get the start they wanted in Game 7, but the Dallas Stars probably couldn't have drawn up the opening minute of tonight's game any better.
Stars captain Jamie Benn has stunned the Flames and their fans in the Saddledome on Sunday night by scoring just seconds into tonight's Game 7, picking up the first goal of the game after just 40 seconds had expired off the game clock.
It seemed like a relatively harmless play from the Dallas Stars after they dumped the puck in deep into the Flames zone, but Benn was left all alone in the slot and after a quick pass from Stars forward Tyler Seguin, Benn put it in the back of the net to give the Stars a very early 1 - 0 lead in Game 7.
