The news went from bad to worse…
On Tuesday night, Montreal Canadiens were fast and furious in the first period against the Detroit Red Wings, but unfortunately for forward Jonathan Drouin - so was the puck.
As you found out earlier, as he skated close to the Wings’ net to jump on a rebound, Drouin was instead hit straight in the head by a one-timer from teammate, defenseman Brett Kulak. He immediately fell to the ice, got up and skated to the bench. He went down the tunnel with a team physician.
As the second period kicked off, commentators announced that Drouin would not return to the game, and on top of that, confirmed that he was taken to the hospital to get checked out. The team made the announcement moments later.
Check out what happened:
We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
