Kaapo Kahkonen signs a multi-year deal

The San Jose Sharks have signed goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen to a two year contract extension worth a reported $2.75 million per season.

"Kaapo has shown potential to be a number one goaltender in the NHL, and impressed us when he joined our team in the last part of the season," said Sharks GM Mike Grier in a prepared statement. "We are excited to have him with us."

With Kahkonen under contract the Sharks now have three NHL netminders under contract for next season. Kahkonen, James Reimer and Adin Hill are all signed for a combined cap hit of just $7.175 million.
