Latest details on Mikko Rantanen trade raise concern...

This is deadline, it has to get solved or it all falls apart. Full story here:

In the middle of the night and earlier this morning, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Fridman reported that the Carolina Hurricanes had a framework of a deal in place that would send Mikko Rantanen to the Dallas Stars.

After the two teams reportedly agreed on the particulars, the Stars began negotiations on an extension with Rantanen, who is said to be willing to sign there.

However, there is a sense that a deal is not taking shape as easily as it was first hoped, which means for now Rantanen remains in Carolina, and could be flipped elsewhere before the deadline time strikes at 3PMET.

According to Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun, there is still work to be done on an extension between Rantanen and the Stars. Carolina could have to go back to the drawing board.

In 13 games with the Hurricanes since joining the club on a significant trade at the end of January, Rantanen has collected two goals and four assists for six points. He has 27 goals and 43 points for 70 points in 62 games total this season.

Rantanen’s the biggest name to watch at this year’s deadline.
