Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe provides update on injured G Petr Mrazek

Take a look at what the Leafs head coach had to say.

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Petr Mrazek didn't have the greatest of debuts for his new squad last week, allowing three goals against the Ottawa Senators before eventually leaving the game with a groin injury.

In his stead, the Leafs have elected to bring up goaltender Michael Hutchinson from the American Hockey League affiliated Toronto Marlies. Of course, he's not the most popular player in Leafs Land, but it's certainly a more viable option than having to essentially hire an emergency goalie, as they did with U of T net minder Alex Bishop.

Ahead of tonight's home game against the San Jose Sharks, head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update on their injured Czech netminder. He says that Mrazek is traveling with the team, despite not being close to returning to game action.

Hutchinson will start tonight at Scotiabank Arena against the Sharks, while Campbell will once again be back in net tomorrow night against the Penguins.

The Leafs moved on from Danish goaltender Frederik Andersen during the offseason and brought aboard Mrazek, who agreed to a three year contract to team up with Jack Campbell in the Leafs crease.

Last year with Carolina, Mrazek posted a record of a 6-2-3 record with three shutouts, a 2.06 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. In 275 career regular season games with the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and Hurricanes, Mrazek sports a 128-96-31 record with a 2.59 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and 24 shutouts.
