Washington Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson got in trouble with the Toronto Maple Leafs after a hustle play ended with goalie Jack Campbell being clipped in the head accidentally.

While Campbell remained in the game and did not suffer an injury, but his teammates were out to get Wilson.

The incident took place when Nick Jensen dumped the puck and it bounced off the boards, sliding towards the Leafs’ crease. Wilson and Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin raced for the loose puck, but Campbell stuck his head out and Wilson clipped him accidentally, causing the goalie’s head to strike the goal frame and his mask to fly off. Wilson received a two-minute minor penalty for goaltender interference and was stunned at officials for the call.

After his penalty, Wilson was challenged at his own bench, verbally confronted by Wayne Simmonds and Kyle Clifford, for hitting their goaltender.

“Go fight your own f***ing guy! Fight your own f***ing guy!!” Wilson said in response.

While Wilson was challenged and fought Clifford in the second period, but after the game, it was Campbell came to his defence, stating that he knew no harm was intended by Wilson.

“I met him at the All-Star Game, nice guy,” Campbell said of Wilson after the game.
