Star forward Leon Draisaitl will not play tonight in San Jose as the Edmonton Oilers take on the Sharks.
John Shannon reports that Draisaitl’s absence is not believed to be serious, though it is serious enough to keep him out of action tonight.
However, it is believed the Oilers preferred to get Draisaitl some rest before a very crucial contest against the Kings in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Draisaitl had a goal and an assist against the Ducks to extend his point streak to 12 games (12 goals, 10 assists) and increase his point total to 101 (50 goals, 51 assists), second most in the NHL.
The Oilers have won four in a row and 10 of 13 to maintain third place in the Pacific Division with 12 games remaining.
Oilers fans hope for better news on Draisaitl in the coming days.
