Long-time Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader signs a pro-rated contract

Former Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader has signed a partial-season contract with EV Zug of the Swiss National League.
The 35 year old played with Zug two seasons ago and was with Lugano of the same league last season. He put up just one assist in six games with the team last season. His last season in the NHL came in 2019-20 where he put up just three assists in 49 games.
His new contract with Zug runs until the end of the 2022 calendar, expiring on December 31st, 2022. This enables him to sign a deal elsewhere come January 1st, 2023.
