Bruins head coach doesn't hold back after an ugly loss on Sunday.
The Boston Bruins suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday, allowing the Sabres to score 6 consecutive goals on their way to cruising to a 6-1 victory over the Bruins in Game 4, and following the conclusion of the game Bruins head coach Marco Sturm made no effort to hide his displeasure at his team's effort.
"Well we should be embarrassed because it was embarrassing," said Sturm, pulling no punches. "I am embarrassed and we all should be."
During the course of the game, Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman was pulled from the net after giving up 6 goals which was in turn followed by an outburst from Swayman on the Bruins bench. Although that outburst was directed at his own teammates, Sturm took no issue with the actions of Swayman and even indicated that he felt Swayman had been the only Bruin to show up for Game 4.
"Absolutely at least one guy [had that fire]" said Sturm when asked about Swayman's outburst. "It was not his fault today I can tell you that. I felt bad for him."
Perhaps most concerning of all however was Sturm's response when asked to explain what went wrong in Game 4.
"I can't," said Sturm. "I really can't. I don't know. I really don't know."
The Bruins will be facing elimination when they next face the Sabres for Game 5 on Tuesday.
