Mike Milbury reportedly removed from tonight’s game broadcast!

It sounds like NBC is taking a step in the right direction. According to John Shannon, Mike Milbury is not expected to take part in the broadcast of Game 6 between the Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers following last night’s incident.

During the broadcast of Game 5 between the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals, play by play announcer John Forslund was waxing poetically about the NHL’s “bubble” in Toronto and how great of an environment it is for the players so that they can properly focus and get down to work. So what does Milbury do? He butts in with a ridiculous comment about how “there are no women around to distract you.”

He later apologized for his comment on Friday, while NBC mentioned that they are “disappointed about Mike’s insensitive comment and have addressed it with him.”

This took place after the NHL issued a statement on Friday, condemning Milbury’s words and stating that it has communicated their feelings to NBC.

Most fans were hoping to see Milbury getting fired for his misogynist comments. It seems like NBC won’t be firing him, but they are just making the right choice to let him off the air tonight. While it isn’t official for now, we will keep you posted here on what happens next to him.

“Not official, I suspect he will not be on the show. Primarily, he will receive some sort of censure. Secondarily, his presence would create a distraction to the event we are supposed to be enjoying.”

NBC made it official later on Friday.
