The Toronto Maple Leafs currently enjoy a 1-0 series advantage over the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to a 5-0 blowout win Monday night in Game 1 of the series.
Toronto’s offense was powered thanks to two goals from sniper Auston Matthews, as well as a tally from Mitch Marner.
For Marner, the goal broke an eighteen game goalless drought in the postseason dating back to 2019 against Boston.
Tonight at Scotiabank Areba for Game 2, he had a special guest in attendance - none other than his grandmother.
“I thought it was one of the best (games) in a while,” she said. “He got a wonderful goal and we’re all very proud.”
“They’re gonna win, for sure. 3-2.”
Of course, the prediction won’t come to fruition - at least, the final score part. The Leafs trail the Bolts heading into the 3rd period by a 3-1 margin.
