Anthony Stolarz-William Nylander-Injury

Monday morning move hints at injury to Anthony Stolarz.

A bad sign for the Maple Leafs early on Monday morning.

This is most definitely not a great look for Toronto Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander.

On Saturday night, fans in Toronto were furious with Nylander after he knocked starting goaltender Anthony Stolarz out of the game and into the hospital when he struck him in the throat with a high shot during warmups ahead of a game against the Ottawa Senators. Stolarz was forced to leave the game and was transported to hospital as a result of taking the shot to the throat, and now it seems that he will miss time as a result of this incident.

On Monday morning, the Maple Leafs announced the emergency call up of goaltender Dennis Hildeby from the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies. Hildeby has already been called upon numerous times by the Maple Leafs this season, all at various points when either Stolarz or goaltender Joseph Woll were dealing with injuries.

This would appear to be an indication that Stolarz has indeed been injured and has been forced to the sidelines as a result, although no official announcement has been made in that regard just yet.

As I mentioned this is a very bad look for Nylander who injured Stolarz with a reckless shot that could have easily been avoided, especially when you consider that Nylander has a long history of doing this to his own goaltenders.

As for Hildeby I suspect that fans will welcome the call up given that he has played well for the Leafs this season. Hildeby has appeared in 19 NHL games already this season and recorded a 2.84 goals against average and a .912 save percentage over that stretch.
