Fans across the National Hockey League are understandably very concerned about the status of Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog after he crashed into a goalpost and appeared to suffer serious injury on Sunday night.

Landeskog of course has had a very well documented struggle when it comes to even being able to play in the National Hockey League with Landeskog overcoming all odds and a very serious knee injury to return to the NHL last season. It is for that reason that many were very upset when Landeskog went down on Sunday night and was unable to leave the ice under his own power.

Of course the first concern was that he had once again injured the knee that had caused him so much trouble over the years, but teammate Nathan MacKinnon has confirmed this is not the case. MacKinnon also revealed that members of the opposing team inquired about Landeskog's status after the injury occurred, showing that truly every member of the hockey community is rooting for Landeskog in this situation.

MacKinnon also made comments that appeared to imply that Landeskog has suffered broken or fractured ribs, which would make sense given the angle at which he went slamming into the goalpost. While that would be bad news in most circumstances, I think fans in Colorado will be very happy to have avoided the worst case scenario.
