Nazem Kadri thrown under the bus by his own head coach!

When your bad reputation precedes your play…

It was chaos on Thursday night between the St. Louis Blues and the Colorado Avalanche. And of course, you have to expect that forward Nazem Kadri had something to do with it…

At the end of the second period, it all got out of hand, and of course, Kadri was around. As the Avs players rushed towards the net, which came undone, and score, but was immediately overturned, all players on the ice gathered behind the cage and started to brawl. Blues goalie Jordan Binnington got into the mix, unhappy with the fact that the Avalanche kept shooting as the net was removed, but it could have also been because they were leading 3-1…

Referees attempted to break the scrum apart, and as they did so, Binnington got away and heard some crap from Kadri. Yeah, no surprise there.

However, what was shocking is that as Binnington heard what Kadri has to say, his tantrum kept going and he decided to swing his goalie stick at Kadri’s head, just after he shot the puck at Darcy Kuemper at the other end…

Seconds later, Kadri wanted more and say some more to the goaltender and the officials had had enough, handing him a misconduct.

When asked about the incident after their 4-1 victory, head coach Jared Bednar threw Kadri, his own player, under the bus.

“It was the right call. That would have been a big goal for us. Kadri, you can’t continue to try and escalate an altercation. It’s no different from getting into a fight.

“Sometimes they’ll let you get away with it but that had dragged on long enough. You can’t go back and try to fire things back up.”

As simple as that. That’s because Kadri is known to cause trouble and his own coach is not afraid to call him out so he can focus on what matters in a game: playing well and scoring goals.

And Kadri has two in the season so far, and Bednar wants more.

Kadri thought he'd done good, telling reporters after the game that he stayed out of the scrum when chaos ensued and that he is now punished for talking.

"I have no idea. I don't know why I got a 10 minute penalty there.

"We exchanged some words, I got a stick swung at my face. ... I'm getting misconducts for just talking now."
