The National Hockey League may about to see a major shift in one of the league's 32 teams.

According to a report from The Athletic, multiple sources have now confirmed that the Buffalo Sabres are holding internal discussion about replacing the team's current general manager, Kevyn Adams.

Adams has been the subject of much criticism since taking over the role in June of 2020, and the product on the ice in Buffalo has seen very little improvement over that time. The Sabres have consistently missed the playoffs, and Adams has even been publicly criticized by beloved former Sabres players.

"He just had to be in the right place at the right time when they were cutting budgets," said Matthew Barnaby of Adams. "I guarantee he's coming on the cheap."

On Saturday night, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that there was indeed a lot of noise in Buffalo.

"I don't have anything solid here but I want to address it," said Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada. "There's a lot of noise... we'll see what happens when Buffalo gets back."

Adams has not been beloved by the fan base, missing the playoffs in every season as general manager and making some questionable trades during his tenure. Most notably Adams presided over the trade of star forward Jack Eichel, a trade that has aged very poorly for the Sabres since 2021 when it was made. As a result, I suspect that this news will be well received in Buffalo.
