Nikita Zadorov in trouble for his cross-check on Rasmus Dhalin.
The hits keep on coming for the Boston Bruins after what Bruins head coach Marco Sturm described as an embarrassing performance in Game 4 of their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Buffalo Sabres.
The Bruins were dominated by the Sabres in Game 4 and frustration would boil over late for the Bruins with defenseman Nikita Zadorov perhaps serving as the most notable example of that frustration. Zadorov would snap and completely lose his cool with roughly 3 minutes left to go in the game, attacking Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin well after the play had been blown dead and earning himself a 5 minute major in the process.
The penalty would force the Bruins to play a man down the rest of the game, erasing whatever incredibly slim hopes they may have had of mounting a comeback, and it will now also cost Zadorov when it comes to his pocket.
The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that, despite already receiving a major, they are slapping an additional fine of $5,000 on Zadorov for his cross-check on Dahlin. It isn't the stiffest punishment but you would be hard pressed to argue that Zadorov's action rise to the level of a suspension, especially considering this is the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Zadorov also threw a punch at Dhalin after the cross-check as well, so perhaps he will feel like he got his money's worth.
